TRANSPORTATION & MOBILITY PUBLIC SAFETY & SECURITY SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT & LAND USE DIVERSITY

Deerfoot Trail sees the highest number of collisions in our city.  In the past five years there have been over 10,000 crashes and over 24 fatalities.  While many cite inattentive or overly aggressive drivers as the problem, poor road design and congestion are also factors.

That is why I brought before Council a motion requesting a comprehensive safety audit on Deerfoot trail. The safety audit, to be completed this year, will involve the City, the Province and Calgary Police Service, and will examine and bring forward recommendations on the 3 ’Es’: education, engineering/design and enforcement.
