Diane was born and raised in the rural farming community of Oyen, Alberta, and has lived in Calgary for over 35 years in the southwest area she serves. Diane builds trust ...and her track record shows why: she provides solid representation with integrity, offers informed opinions, and challenges others to engage in critical debate on key issues. As a city official, Diane is committed to working hard for this city and to keeping Calgary in the forefront as a leader in this country.

Diane listens, takes action and gets things done, and, is committed to ensuring citizen needs are heard and addressed. Diane's energetic commitment to citizen engagement is evidenced by her numerous community forums and round tables to ensure ongoing relevant dialogue and interaction with the citizens of Calgary. Her consummate desire to build new relationships with all parts of the community is evidenced in a variety of ways, such as establishing the Ward 13 President's Council, the Land Use & Mobility Advisory Council, and the Community Safety Advisory Council, the Telework Initiative, the Carpooling Initiative, the Stop Grow Ops Calgary Coalition, diversity roundtables on racism & discrimination, and smoke-free Calgary.

Diane brings a wealth of community, charitable, corporate, consulting and small business experience to her public service role. With over a 35 year career in Health and Human Services, nursing, and her own small businesses, Diane has held senior management and teaching positions with Foothills Hospital, the U of A Hospital, Beverly Care Centre, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Kids Help Phone and Westhampton Management Ltd. Diane's 35 year nursing career and expertise has significantly impacted the work that she does on behalf of the citizens of Calgary. She continues to work occasionally at the Calgary Chronic Pain Center.

Volunteerism has also been at the heart of everything that Diane has done in giving back to the community and inspiring others to get involved. She has volunteered for the World Police Fire Games, Calgary Police Interpretive Center, Alberta Advisory Council for the National Yes Referendum and the Chamber of Commerce Canadian Unity Taskforce & President's Cup Challenge, Calgary Crime Stoppers; Commissioner with the WCB Appeals Commission and the Canada Pension Tribunal, the Alzheimer's Society & Calgary Handibus.

Since 1983, Diane has actively volunteered with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Committee in Wichita, Kansas, served as President of the Alberta P.C. Women's Association; Vice-President of the National P.C. Women's Federation; Alberta Vice-President of the P.C. Party of Canada; Chair, Kim Campbell Leadership Committee for Southern Alberta; and President of the Calgary Glenmore P.C. Association.

In 1992, Diane was honoured as recipient of the Governor General's Commemorative Medal for community service. In 2005, Diane was again honoured with the Alberta Centennial Medal for her work in diversity and human rights initiatives. Diane balances her family, work and volunteer commitments with a very active lifestyle that reflects her personal dedication to fitness and wellness, with personal achievements that include completing the New York City Marathon and the Calgary Police Half Marathon, and the World Masters Games in Edmonton in 2005. Her other interests include sailing, cycling, baseball, basketball, weight training, writing, interior design, painting, weaving and antique collecting.
